Casting Calls

Multiple Casting for Comedy Web Series (Washington DC)

We are seeking actors for East Coast Grow, a comedy web series about DC’s marijuana industry. The series follows a group of industry professionals as they attempt to navigate DC’s landscape of medical cultivation and broader legalization with well-intentioned enthusiasm, which often results in more trouble than they expect.

The first episodes will be shot in DC this fall, with rehearsals beginning in late September. We will be operating under a SAG New Media Entertainment Contract, so both union and non-union talent are encouraged to apply.

Auditions will take place in DC on Wednesday, August 26th, Saturday, August 29th and Sunday, August 30th, with callbacks on Sunday, September 13th. Actors will prepare sides provided beforehand. All roles are paid.

If interested, please email the following to booking@sintalent.com by Wednesday, August 19th:

Roles include:

Mike, (early-mid 30s), has been working in the illegal marijuana trade for over a decade, and struggles with his criminal past as he tries to build a legitimate business. Personable, charming, and extremely passionate about his work, Mike is also reluctant to let down his defenses and put his trust in others after experiencing the conflict-ridden world of the illegal trade.

Tia, (late 20s-30s), left her job in corporate communications to become the manager at a marijuana cultivation center after it was legalized for medical use. A longtime proponent for justice in marijuana policy, Tia has an older brother who is incarcerated for marijuana trafficking. Whip-smart and resourceful, she is used to taking charge and is naturally empathetic.

Darrin, (30s), is Mike’s best friend. Pacifistic and fun-loving, he grew up in a big family in southeast DC and cares deeply about his community. When Mike gets him a job at the cultivation center Tia manages, he finds his true calling, hoping the changing policies will curb the frequent villainization of his neighborhood by authorities and in turn make it safer.

Cody, (early-mid 20s), is the cultivation center’s newest employee. Eager to learn and full of the wide-eyed idealism of youth, his naivete and lack of life experience often get him into trouble as he navigates a world completely outside of his realm.

Aldo, (40s), is the sharp-minded and sarcastic owner of one of DC’s leading dispensaries. He is often at the forefront of lobbying efforts to improve DC’s medical program.

AUDITIONS: August 26th, August 29th, August 30th and September 13th In Washington, DC
